报告摘要:
The Institute for Technical Physics at KIT serves as a national and international centre of competence in the field of applied superconductivity. Within the German Helmholtz Association of large research centres the R&D focus is on new and advanced superconducting applications for power systems. This includes compact and efficient cables, lightweight transformers, powerful rotating machines, reliable fault current limiters and fast superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES). It is quite unique, that all R&D aspects spanning from basic material research, to wire and technology development and cryogenics can be served in one institution at ITEP. In the past, lighthouse projects like the first long term installation of a 40MVA, 1 km superconducting cable in Essen, Germany and the development of medium voltage class resistive type fault current limiters have been successfully supported by ITEP. Recently, new and promising superconducting applications like wind generators or electric aircraft components have been added to the R&D portfolio of ITEP. The presentation will give an overview on our present research topics and many details on present projects and the latest progress in the development of superconducting cables, transfomers, rotating machines, fault current limiters and SMES.
