报告内容简介：In today’s competitive roll-to-roll coatings market, there is a continuing need for new technologies that do not utilize solvents, have minimal waste, and are environmentally safe to implement. Described here is a vacuum based process for the deposition acrylate monomers that are solvent and water-free and result in high quality polymer coatings. The polymer coatings are produced in a vacuum by evaporating radiation curable monomers which form a vapor that is condensed onto a substrate and cured with UV or electron beam radiation. The HMLTM vacuum polymer coating process has the ability to functionalize a wide variety of substrates from films, woven and non-woven fabrics, and paper. The functional film properties include scratch resistant hard coats, primer coats, antismudge coats, oil and water resistant coatings and a broad range of other chemical functionalities are easily achieved. Thin polymer coatings can be deposited at speeds as high as 500 m/minute. The high speed HMLTM process can also sequentially deposit inorganic and organic layers in a single pass without breaking vacuum. This feature, when combined with low monomer material cost, results in an economical and cost-competitive process that is easily scaled-up to the production environment.

As Vice President, Dr. DiBattista directs the company’s product strategy and is responsible for product architecture and implementation. Jim received his BS and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from Syracuse University.
