3D Graphene for Energy Conversion and Storage

报告内容简介:Abstract: Graphene has emerged as a material with unique properties promising its potential applications for energy conversion and storage devices. Numerous approaches were developed to synthesize the first generation graphene—the supported flat graphene sheet for fundamental research. However, for its practical applications, synthesis of free-standing graphene sheets (without substrate) with controllable shape as three dimensional (3D) structure is very necessary. As a result, increasing effort on the exploration of 3D graphene is pushing graphene research into a new era—the second generation. In this talk, I will provide an overview of the important advances in carbon nanomaterials, discuss the novel approaches that my group has developed for 3D graphene synthesis, and present the important applications of 3D graphene for solar cells and supercapacitors.

报告人简介(中文):Dr. Yun Hang Hu is Charles and Carroll McArthur Chair Professor at Michigan Technological University. Before joining Michigan Tech, he was a Senior Engineer at the ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company and a Research Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He received his Ph.D in physical chemistry from Xiamen University. His main research interests range from nanomaterials, clean fuels, hydrogen storage materials, CO2 conversion, catalysis, quantum chemistry calculations to solar energy.
