讲座简介

When HIV was first diagnosed in the early 1980s western governments responded in very different ways. In the US all eyes were on the pharmaceutical industry to come up with a cure, and the industry took up the challenge throughout the decade. The response in the UK was a contrast as it looked to government to devise public health strategies aimed at prevention rather than cure. This presentation looks at the successes and failures of these strategies and the reasons that the two countries decided on such different approaches.
