Department of Advertising
The division of Advertising (undergraduate) started
to recruit in 1992, embodies night school major in Advertising
(from junior college to undergraduate), also provides
Advertising minor subjects for undergraduate students
in other major of Shanghai University. Compared with
same kind of major in countrywide, The Department of
Advertising has talented faculties, embodies three professional
research teams which includes Economic Communication,
Advertisings, Arts Designing on Advertising, equipped
with advertising working laboratory providing students
practising, being capable of guiding students practising.
The aim of studying : train senior professional talent
in Advertising, who grasping both the theory and skills
of advertising, extensive culture and scientific knowledge,
being able to work in advertising department of news
media, advertising department of enterprise, advertising
agency, market research, information technology industry,
undertaking advertising management, advertising creative
planning, designing, marketing planning, as well as
market research and analysis work.
Students of this department will study The Basic Theory
of Maxnism, basic principle and basic knowledge of advertising,
receive basic training of advertising planning, marketing
as well as implementing capabilities, grasping basic
knowledge and skills of advertising department and business
administration.
Graduates should have knowledge and abilities as following:
grasping basic theory and knowledge of advertising,
having abilities of modern advertising planning, creative
production and publishing as well as basic knowledge
of market research and marketing, also have basic abilities
of market analysis and data processing, being familiar
with related advertising policy and regulations, having
basic knowledge and skills of public relation, being
aware of the current status and developing trend of
Chinese Advertising Industry, understanding developing
trends of foreign countries in Advertising Industry.

& Communication.
Advertising courses: Introduction to Advertising, Techniques
of Advertising Scheme and Advertising Script, Advertising
Script, Research on Advertising Media, Advertising Management,
Research on Advertising Efficiency, Regulations on Chinese
& Foreign Commercial Advertising.
Inter-academic technical courses: Basics of Advertising
Fine Arts, Arts Designing on Advertising, Computer Graphic
Design, Commercial Display Design, Advertising Photographic.
Knowledgeable courses: Outline of Chinese Culture, Culture
humanists, Introduction to Sociology, Public Relation,
Introduction to Aesthetics, Study of Exhibition, Study
of Amusement, Advertising Psychology, Study of Shanghai,
The Management of Intellectual Property, etc.
This major will provide students three professional
study modules: advertising planning and creative, advertising
customer service, advertising business administration.
Sponsored by worldwide famous advertising agencies,
such as Japanese Densu, the Department of Advertising
assigns the team of professional teachers to have further
study overseas every year. Japanese Densu and domestic
famous advertising agency assign experts to hold seminar
in our department every year.
Assigned by international consortium, experts, professors
of Advertising Department undertake advertising study.
The Advertising Department has established extensive
professional communications with Advertising Entities
in many countries and territories, which includes the
United States, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The Department of Advertising has provided undergraduates
and college students year over year for the city development
of Shanghai. Graduated students work in multinational
advertising agency Shanghai branch offices, various
local and foreign (including joint venture) advertising
agencies in Shanghai, the advertising department of
TV stations, radio stations, newspaper agencies, magazine
agencies, marketing department of local and foreign
enterprises as well as various local advertising agencies.
