College of Liberal Arts established long-term academic exchange, cooperation with the universities and academic research institutions in Japan,the USA.,Canada, Australia, Germany, Britain, France, Russia, Korea S., Hong Kong, Singapore etc,

At present, college takes on more than ten kinds of international collaborative projects, the national social sciences planned projects , Shanghai social sciences projects and horizontal collaborative projects.

The academic research achievements have good responses in the domestic and international corresponding academia, which have already formed it for the academic research characteristic of humanities of Shanghai University gradually.

 College also engages domestic famous expert, scholar as the part-time professors such as Mr. Fei Hsiao-T'Ung , Invite foreign expert and scholar to come to the institute to give lectures, visits and carries on exchanges on academy irregularly .

    As a basic institute, the College of Liberal Arts trains students not only the basic quality in virtue, intelligence, P.E, but also knowledge of culture and humanity spirit, and have wide range of knowledge and strong innovation ability. College pays much attention to the development of individual character of students in order to help students to decide their own goals, and launch the abundant extracurricular activities and social work, in order to strengthen students' cognition of society and ability to participate in society.

Students can meet the basic demand of job market after graduating, and build a solid foundation for higher education too. In order to realize the aforesaid goal, from 1999 students of the College of Liberal Arts do not divide the specialty in first two years after entering school. Instead, they will learn the unify courses on a very broad and basic knowledge.

 Two years later, students will be distributed into four specialties of the institute. While distributing college implements a two-way choice policy, students are allowed to choose specialty according to one's own condition and specialty could choose students at their requirements. In this way, it is favorable for students to re-choose the specialty that make their study spaces spread which helps to train high-quality talents.
