Department
of Sculpture has a team with well-known sculptors and excellent
artists, among them are 2 professors and associate professors, 6
assistant professors.
The department focuses on the combination of teaching and creating/executing
art works. The faculty and students have completed many large projects
of public arts & design in recent years. The completed projects
have shown the outcome of the fruitful education. For example, the
Sculpture Garden on the Knowledge Avenue at the Shanghai Educational
Base for the Youth, 400 meters long sculptures on the new campus
of Shanghai University, sculptures in the Industrial Park of Singapore
in Suzhou, the Project of Sculpture in the Shanghai Bund, New buildings
in LuXun Memorial and so on which obtain extensive social influence
and development in teaching, producing and researching as well.
The
teaching of the department emphasizes the high positioning of learning
and research, which will deepen the teaching and promote the generation
of new production. The educational objectives are to train the general
students with well-knit sculpt ability by inducing the sense of
creation and theory of arts methods to basic education. Many Art
works of students have been displayed in exhibitions and have won
awards.

Objectives
Students should systematically master the basic clay, wood and stone
sculpture skills, and the technology of the design and production
of sculpture, and also they should understand the fundamental knowledge
and concerns of construction design, so that they will be competent
at the sculpture producing and operation with all kinds of materials.
They also should be to do teaching and researching independently.
