Department
of Oil Painting has a body of faculty of successful and practicing
artists who inspire student's individual vision and nurture their
technical mastery. This team has 2 professors, 5 associate professors,
1 assistant professor and 1 teaching assistant.
The
main focuses of the department are on the trainings of basic painting
techniques and the development of a strongly focused, individual
painting direction. The department inherits the tradition of the
European oil paintings and fully understands the methodology of
the painting because of the advantage of being located in Shanghai
- a metropolitan city. Students are encouraged to investigate new
ideas and approaches that go beyond more recent conventional and
historic painting styles. The importance of their education received
here is to search for painting forms that arise from personal sources
and demonstrate an intelligent awareness of what has come before,
and which seek new expressive and creative ground. The educational
objectives of our department are to train our students to be professional
artists and art researchers as well as active participates engaged
in the management of international arts markets and communication
of culture and arts.
